Brenda,
We have been here less than a day and already I feel I have swallowed a full moon and am walking about with my pockets full of stars...

  • The cabin normally sits about 15 feet above the river, so even if it rises, you can still keep your feet dry. The bank is manageable if you'd like to spend some time fishing or just hanging out under the trees.
  • The Chehalis River Cabin is situated on 26 acres that include a large meadow, a garden, and space to stomp and watch for birds and wildlife. You'll have to share them with the owner, but she's quiet and friendly, and so far has elicited no complaints.
  • Sit a spell on one the deck or back porch. You just might see deer grazing in the meadow, a beaver swimming up- or downstream, or a bald eagle cruising by at eye level.
  • The deck is spacious and features a long overhang providing protection from all weathers. Sip an iced drink in the shade on a hot summer afternoon, or bundle up when the temperature drops and enjoy a cup of something hot while you enjoy the falling rain or snow. Anytime is a great time to sit and watch the river flow.
  • The cabin is cozy and homey, but the large windows, combined with the vaulted ceilings throughout, provide a wonderful spacious feel.
  • The view from the sitting area, past the deck, down the bank (about 15 feet) and to the river.
  • When the temperature drops, there's nothing quite like wood heat. This efficient stove is easy to operate, and there's always plenty of firewood handy. It does a great job of keeping things toasty on the coldest of days. For those who prefer convenience to rustic romance, there is also an efficient electric heater at the touch of a button.
  • The sleeping area offers a double bed with high-quality mattress, a thick down comforter, charming bedside reading lamps--and you just can't escape the view.
  • Even the bathroom is charmingly rustic and surprisingly roomy. It features a shower and fluffy, oversized towels.
  • Cook up a meal in the kitchenette and dine at an antique kitchen table and chairs. The kitchen is thoughtfully stocked with cooking and baking implements as well as a lovely array of china and tableware. You'll even find fresh roasted coffee beans with grinder and drip coffeemaker. The kitchen window looks out on the meadow and garden behind the cabin.
